Amazing third at Hawaii for Torbjorn Sindballe

15 October 2007

Torbjørn Sindballe reached the podium at the World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

It was an exciting race with so many racers close together. Torbjørn wasn't with the first group to get out of the water, so there was a gap to overcome during the bike section. But Tbear ate up the competition with the fastest time on the bike, 4:25:26 over 112 miles. That's an average of 40.7 Kph in the hot and dry lava landscape. Only Chris Lieto (USA) was able to follow with a 2m52 gap behind Torbjørn. The others in the front pack had to settle with a much bigger gap.

Unfortunately Torbjørn couldn't keep up with the pace of McCormack and Alexander, although he had a great under-3hr marathon. "I fighted my way to the podium after killing everyone on the bike and running my first ever good marathon in the heat! I am so happy and thrilled and excited.", says Tbear.
