Marco Marcato takes first victory for Team Vacansoleil-DCM in 2012! The third stage of the 'Etoile de Bessèges' was a shortened version due to the bad weather conditions. A peloton of 60 riders made it to the finish where Marcato was the fastest of the bunch. After being close in 'La Marseillaise' my sprint training now paid off, explains Marco. For Marcato this is his second victory at Vacansoleil-DCM since he joined the team in 2009. ...

Kirsten Wild of Team AA-drink/Leontien.nl won the first stage in Qatar! The Dutch rider was able to outsprint six others who formed the leading group. With her victory Wild is the first leader of the three day stage race in Qatar. Kirsten knows how to race in the dessert of Qatar as she won the race in 2009 and 2010 already! ...

In the first European professional race of 2012, Team Vacansoleil-DCM was close to victory with Marco Marcato! The 148 kilometre Grand Prix Cycliste La Marseillaise ended with a sprint of a group of 15 riders where Marcato was not able to beat Samuel Dumoulin of Cofidis. Bert-Jan Lindeman represented the team in the breakaway of the race which lasted until 20 kilometres for the finish. Lieuwe Westra, who pulled the sprint for Marcato, finished 15th en Björn Leukemans crossed the finish as 17th. The results of this race are promising for the spring classics!...

On the final night of the Rotterdam Six Days the peloton and public said goodbye to Danny Stam! The six days rider, riding for the FFWD sponsored AA-Drink/Leontien.nl team, ended a long career on the bike officially in Rotterdam. Since the season is not completely over he will continue in three other six day races. For this special race Stam decided to form a couple with his nephew Youri Havik and the derny was ridden by his dad. Despite winning the derny race and an overall good performance all six days, Stam and Havik came a bit short to take the vitory and ended on third place overall. In the final race of the night Havik and Stam tried to get an additional lap on the peloton, but unfortunately didn't make it. The......

Last week Vacansoleil-DCM revealed their team for the upcoming cycling season at the Vaeshartelt Castle in Maastricht. There are twelve newcomers among the 29 riders. General Manager Daan Luijkx told the international cycling press that he's not only happy with his acquisitions, but also with the fact that he was able to continue working with the talented young riders who were very important to the team.
