CBT: CONFIDENCE BRAKE TECHNOLOGY

At FFWD Wheels we are constantly working on improvement of our products. In this process of product deve- lopment we learned that the combination of compounds will make the difference between good or great. As techniques develop quickly it remains a continuous process at FFWD Wheels!

FFWD Wheels applies three different brake track layers depending on the type of rim or type of use.

CBT BBS
All FFWD tubular (road) rims have a Basalt brake surface (BBS). Reducing heat production and improving brake performance in combination with the supplied SwissStop black prince brake pads.

CBT 1.5
Based on 1.5k CARBON structure in combination with High TG Custom Compound Resin. Increasing braking power by 30% in all conditions, more durable and doesn’t make noise while braking.

CBT 3H
The F3R FCC has an exclusive brake surface. Mixing three different composites and a copper layer with a High TG Resin enables fast heat reduction and high brake efficiency. Durable and capable of higher tire pressure.

“I’ve always been focused and working hard!”

Starting out
“As a kid I was always very active. First I got into dancing, then swimming. At the age of 15 I did my first triathlon and immediately fell in love with it.”

Hardest race
“The 2014 ITU Kitzbuehel European Championship definitely was the hardest. Not because of the course, but due to the extreme cold and wet conditions.”

Favourite training ground
“My favourite places for training are the Gold Coast in Australia and Font Romeu in France. As for racing, I like Huatulco (Mexico) and Ishigaki (Japan) a lot.”

Training philosophy
“I love doing triathlon and work hard to achieve my goals. I believe determination and hard work are the keys to success.”

Typical training day
“Normally my day consists of 4-6 hours of training with 2 or 3 sessions in all 3 triathlon disciplines. Plus some strength training and stretching.”

Weekly mileage
“Depending on the training period, the volumes may vary significantly. I usually swim about 20-30 km, ride some 250-350 km and run around 70-90 km a week.”

Drive
“Strong will, internal energy and motivation to achieve my goals drive me forward.”

Sacrifices
“I’ve always been focused and working hard. At times I had less time for my study or going out with friends, but that never felt as a big sacrifice since I love being a triathlete.”

Short-term goal
“I first need to recover from my recent injury and do a lot of training to get fit again.”

Ultimate goal
“An Olympic medal for sure. And I also like to win a European Games medal, I came so close this year.”

Getting there
“It will take good planning, full on dedication and a lot of hard work. There are lots of factors that come into play: your coach, plenty of rest, good food, support from my country as well as my sponsors, equipment and a bit of luck.”

Role model
“To be honest, I’m more inspired by the process of achieving the goals myself.”

Best advice given
“It’s better to be perfect in one thing than good in many of them (the energy should be used rationally).”
