A shared obsession for performance

our collaboration with CeramicSpeed

In cycling, the difference is rarely made by a single defining factor. It lies in the accumulation of details: efficiency, reliability, and components that continue to perform under all conditions. Guided by this belief, FFWD and CeramicSpeed work together.

This collaboration is not a marketing concept, but a deliberate technical choice. Driven by a shared obsession with performance, measurability, and real-world application.

From collaboration to integration

Since 2024, CeramicSpeed bearings have been integrated into the top models of our wheel collection. This moment did not mark the beginning of the relationship, but rather the next step in it. In earlier years, CeramicSpeed bearings were already part of our lineup, including their use in the FIVE-T wheelset, alongside the SKF variant that remains in our range today.

This longer history underlines what the collaboration is built on: trust in technology that has proven itself across multiple product generations. Not driven by trends, but by durability, efficiency, and consistent performance.

From theory to practice

Lower internal friction contributes to more efficient power transfer. That may sound technical, but the real difference becomes apparent when equipment is required to deliver under load. During intense training sessions, in competition, and in conditions where there is no room for compromise.

A concrete example is the application of CeramicSpeed bearings in:

·     RAW – our high-performance road wheelset
·     Falcon RS – the disc wheel designed for time trials and triathlon

In both cases, the focus is not solely on speed, but on reliability and durability—qualities that must remain intact even after prolonged and intensive use.

Broadly applicable across disciplines

The collaboration with CeramicSpeed is not limited to a single application. The underlying principles—efficiency, durability, and precision—are widely applicable and align with how we develop our wheels: one consistently high standard, regardless of the intended use.

A shared way of working and thinking

What defines our collaboration with CeramicSpeed is a shared approach to product development. Not driven by promises, but by testing, engineering, and real-world experience. This approach is guided by clear principles:

·       A focus on measurable results under realistic conditions
·       Engineering over claims, with transparency as a foundation
·       Development driven by practical experience and feedback
·       Efficiency and durability as an inseparable combination

These are choices that may not always be visible on the surface, but that make a lasting difference in trust and long-term usability.

What does this mean for the rider?

For the rider, this collaboration is not expressed in isolated specifications, but in an overall feeling. Equipment should do exactly what it is designed to do, without distraction or uncertainty.

In practical terms, this means:

·       More efficient power transfer, allowing effort to be used more effectively
·       Less energy loss, especially under high and sustained loads
·       Consistent operation over time and continued use
·       Reliability when it matters, in both training and competition

Details you may not always see, but that directly contribute to confidence in your setup.

Looking ahead

This collaboration fits within FFWD’s broader approach to partnerships: working with parties that share the same standards for quality and development. In upcoming blogs, we will take a deeper look at collaborations with teams, applications, and athletes. Always guided by the same philosophy.

This is how we continue to build performance, down to the smallest details.
