Nicely priced upgrade from alloy wheels

Nicely priced upgrade from alloy wheels. My first set of carbon wheels, so I can only compare them to the previous alloy set; I installed them on my bike with 40mm schwalbe gravel tyres. The tyres were a pain to fit, but I'm not sure if that's because of the tyres or the rims. The wheels are a lot faster, especially on asphalt and when accelerating. They feel more stable as well, even on twisty singletrack or bumpy descents. A bit less stable with strong winds from the side, but not as bad as I would've thought beforehand.

Perfekt wheelset for all conditions

I ride the wheels on my gravel bike and my racing bike and am more than impressed with the quality and robustness. The wheels impress both on fast descents and on technical gravel sections.

Such an upgrade!

For my Specialized Roubaix I wanted to make an upgrade. The bike itself is older, but everything is great. The positioning, the quality, the weight... So instead of looking for a new bike, I invested in some good looking rims.

Eerste carbon set

Ik rij al een paar jaar op een zwart matte Cannondale Synapse. Fiets is volledig carbon behalve de wielen. Zoveel al gelezen en gehoord over een upgrade van je fiets. Dus na al die informatie op zoek gegaan naar carbon wielen set. Op de site van FFWD kwam ik de Tyros tegen. De prijs was goed en ze zagen er mooi en strak uit. Besteld en gemonteerd. Fiets is gelijk in waarde gestegen maar ook het rij comfort is aanzienlijk toegenomen. Wat rijd dat heerlijk zo een carbon set.

Een paar ritjes gereden met de gravelfiets en deze wielen. Ze bollen goed. Tot nu toe niks op aan te merken.

FFWD Tyro

I put these wheels on my gravel bike to see if it turns out well for road cycling and I have to say the feeling is amazing. They swoosh like crazy and the ratchet sound made me instantly the coolest kid om the block. They are fast!

I have some red decals

but maybe I leave the wheels fully black. Still thinking about that...

Fast and sharp

Great wheels. Did not expect them to make such a difference in speed. Besides speed, they pick on the power very quick and enable you to take corners as sharp as razorblade.

Great wheelset

I bought these wheels in England and I've been riding with them on my Kuota for about 2 years. I love them. They are responsive and just great looking. Yes, I do still ride rim brake and the braking is good and put to the test when I took a corner at about 45km/h on a slight descent to find a farmer herding his cattle across the road. Not the best braking in wet but that's expexted so I simply just slow down and brake earlier just like in a car. I ride in Barbados which is relatively flat with some rolling hills so the descents don't require too much high speed braking whereas some of the descents flatten out or lead into a short climb. I also ride in Montenegro which is very mountainous. I do some long epic climbs where I will have my wife meet me at the top and put the bike in the car so I don't wear out the brake surface on the descents which usually consist of many tight or hairpin turns. Having said that during a nice descent in Barbados with more flowing corners I maxed out at 74km/h so they are very good at high speed.

Sterk!

Ik heb de set gekozen omdat deze betaalbaar is, de wielen super sterk zijn, en nog steeds een mooi gewicht hebben. Zelf de decals kiezen is top, ik heb goud! Meerdere ritten gedaan die eigenlijk voor MTB waren maar de Tyro sloeg zich er met gemak doorheen en lopen nog steeds kaarsrecht.

Mijn gouden TYRO's rollen als de beste en vallen ook heel erg op!

Dit is mijn eerste carbon wielset omdat ik pas net op de racefiets rij. Ze rijden echt super, zoveel verschil met de zware aluminium wielen die oorspronkelijk in mijn Orbea Alma zaten. En bij de wedstrijden zeggen veel mensen dat ze m'n wielen zo gaaf vinden, dat komt natuurlijk ook omdat FFWD er in het goud op staat :-)

Perfect buy!

I love the wheels and the design is perfect! Yes, maybe it is a little heavier in comparison with another entry wheel set... but only 100gr, nothing that will change my ride. For me they are super stiff at riding moment, the hubs not only sound amazing, they are really smooth. For example 1 week of riding 300km and never getting out of center or loose spokes, on a ride I hit a hole and nothing happened to the wheel, the wheels responded perfectly.

Strong enough for tandem

We were looking for a pair of wheel wich are really strong, because we are two riders pushing a lot of Watts. We chose Tyro wheels for their stiffness. Now we have done more than 5000k with them and there are like the same day. We have ridden in flat roads, hilly mountains, long descends and this wheels work good in all the locations. In addition, Tyro wheels are really good looking not only as training wheels, otherwise as racing wheels too!

Very happy with the TYRO

Besides the fact that I like to see high wheels in a bike I also notice the technical difference compared to my previous alloy wheel set. My bike now feels more stable and I experience less resistance during cycling so I ride much easier. These wheels bring even more fun to ride my bike!
