New FFWD hubs

FFWD TECH

smooth spinning hubs

All used parts in our wheels are handpicked with the utmost care and knowledge. One of the key components is, of course, the hub.

FFWD road hubs

All FFWD road hubs are using ratchet engagement systems instead of the widely used pawl systems. Ratchet systems are generally spoken stronger, more reliable and need less maintenance compared to traditional pawl systems. Biggest reason for this is that the power transferred from the drivetrain to the wheel is spread of a larger surface.

RATCHET VS PAWL

In general hubs that are "louder" usually have more engagement points. This means your drivetrain picks up faster, so less energy is lost. Hubs that have sealed cartridge bearings or needle bearings usually never need to be replaced, they're far stronger and stay cleaner. This leads to smooth spinning hubs with superb durability.

Our hubs are available in many levels of performance. Although all hubs used in FFWD wheels are of high level quality, there are differences in performance between the hubs used in FFWD models which are described below.

DT180 EXP - [€€€€€]

Lightest and smoothest hub we offer, high quality Swiss performance. The DT180 hubs use the well known ratchet system in it latest iteration; Ratchet EXP. Less weight, less moving parts and less wear. These hubs come with high quality SINC ceramic bearings as well, these guarantee the best spin and highest possible durability. For ultimate performance! The DT180 EXP hubs are only used in the FFWD RAW wheel set.

RATCHET EXP
DT240 EXP - [€€€€]

Perhaps one of the most iconic hubs ever made. DT240 is well known for its durability and maintenance free use. Since MY21 the ratchet system used in the 240 hubs is updated to the EXP version as well. The 240 hubs make use of stainless steel bearings. The stainless steel bearings offer great benefits when used in offroad or wet conditions like gravel and CX. The DT240EXP hubs are available in RYOT and DRIFT wheels. FFWD DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs are developed specific for FFWD in a custom 2:1 spoke ratio for maximum stiffness and equal spoke tension.

DT240s - [€€€€]

With the DT240 EXP, the DT240s is part of the most iconic hubs ever made. The DT240 is well known for its durability and maintenance free use. The DT240 hubs make use of the DT Swiss ratchet system and are installed with stainless steel bearings. The stainless steel bearings offer great benefits when used in offroad or wet conditions like gravel and CX. The DT240 hubs are available in F3, F4, F6 and F9. Both rim and disc brake.

FFWD DT Swiss 240s hubs are custom made for FFWD in a 2:1 spoke ratio for maximum stiffness and equal spoke tension.

DT350 - [€€€]

This hub is like the DT240s hub's the little brother, it has the same technology but comes in a more affordable package. The DT350 hubs offers the same ratchet engagement system as the DT240s hubs but does not feature the stainless steal bearings. Instead of that, DT350 hubs come with a standard steel cartridge bearing.

The weight is a bit heavier because there are more steal parts instead of alloy. Also converting to different axle standard takes a bit more time compared to the DT240 and DT180 hubs.

The DT350 hubs are available in F3, F4, F6 and F9. Both rim and disc brake.

The FFWD DT Swiss DT350 hubs are custom made for FFWD in a 2:1 spoke ratio for maximum stiffness and equal spoke tension.

RATCHET
FFWD disc brake hubs - [€€]

For the entry level disc brake wheels we developed our own FFWD hubs. The focus during development was on durability and less on weight. The FFWD hubs are installed with a DT derived ratchet system for maximum reliability and engagement angle. You can find this hub in the FFWD TYRO.

The FFWD disc brake hubs offers a standard, non-custom, 1:1 spoke ratio.

FFWD track hubs - [€€€]

For track hubs we use our own dedicated track hub. This stylish high polish hub is used in F6T and F9T but as well as in the full disc track wheels. The high quality bearings guarantee durability and performance for many years. Although these hubs come with steel bearings, they can be replaced with ceramic or other high performance bearings.
