Get the best of all worlds

Advantages in aerodynamics, weight and super handling skills combined in the 55-44mm wheelset. The RYOT55-44 is the best all-round set for the flats or hilly terrains with extra aerodynamics on the rear wheel.

Constant improvements in our rim manufacturing process of the rims result in significant weight reductions. It makes that this set only weighs 1485 grams in the DT240 hub configuration. With the height of a 55mm rear and 44mm front wheel, this is the perfect set to combine aerodynamics and handling skills.

Weight gains without sacrificing durability

While chasing weight gains we never compromise on durability. That's why you won't find miniscule bearings or aluminium nipples, but we use brass nipples instead. Our guarantee your wheels will last a long time.

Staying true to our philosophy on hooked rims for road wheels the RYOT now have a 23mm internal rim width. Perfect to fit wider tires and to choose whatever type or brand of tire you prefer.

Choose your hubs

The FFWD N/GAGE hubs are completely redesigned to shave off extra weight. Based on ratchet internals these hubs offer you the best price versus quality ratio. If you’re looking for the last marginal gains you can save a bit more weight when opting for the DT240 EXP hubs.

For all our hubs and wheels we keep stock of spare parts such as body’s, bearings and spokes. All hubs are compatible for 12 x 100mm thru-axles (front), 12 x 142mm (rear) and have a center lock disc rotor fitting.

What riders say about RYOT 55-44

Excellent choice for heavy riders too

This is my second RYOT set. The previous generation 44 are stable and stiff, and still roll like new after 20 thousand km. This new version is even lighter but equally stiff. The extra inner width (now 23mm instead of 21mm) appears to increase the contact surface of my 30C tires and provides extra grip. I think the external rim profile is practically unchanged from the previous version. I chose the 55/44 combination because the rear end of my bike can feel a little twitchy in fast corners if i'm not careful about distributing my weight. The deeper rear wheel feels more stable and requires me to push the bike into the corner, which i like. I should mention i'm 1m94 and 89kg, so i need strong wheels. The RYOT wheels with 24 spokes front and rear strike a good balance between weight and strength. They have DT240 hubs, which have been my choice for almost 20 years. And perhaps most importantly these days: the rims still have hooks! This should really be a 5-star review, but i'm taking 1 star off because the rear wheel is not quite true. Fortunately the nipples are still external so i can get them straightened and re-tensioned easily in a few hundred km.

First impression

I ordered my RYOT 55-44 wheels on Monday, expecting delivery by Thursday, but a UPS delay pushed it to Friday. Fortunately, that gave me just enough time to install 28mm tubeless Schwalbe Pro One Aero tires and take a quick test ride before heading to the start of Saturday’s 200 km Audax ride around Lake Constance (Bodensee). The ride was smooth. Tire installation was easy and trouble-free. The DT Swiss 240 hubs sound great, and the wheels roll like a dream. I’ve only done about 460 km so far, including rides in strong side winds—no issues at all. I haven’t tested them yet in the high mountains on fast descents with strong crosswinds, that'll be the real challenge, but I’m confident they’ll perform just as well. Also, big thanks to the FFWD team for throwing in a free t-shirt! Love it!

Supplied travel bag a lovely bonus

Treated myself to a sensible dream build with by recommendation a ryot 44 wheelset. The 44's were on a long delivery so the 55/44 combo was suggested. Overall, really pleased. The deeper section runs a little noisy with a distinctive drone at speed.....which is not necessarily a bad thing. They certainly feel faster than my 35mm deep hollowgram carbon hoops. They look the business, although FFWD won't provide the free additional coloured decals if purchased through a retailer which I find a bit tight...after all they're not worth much but cost a fortune to buy separately. DT swiss hubs have taken some bedding in and probably need considerably more miles than I've had chance to ride so far for them to run easily, but their quality is clear. Ratchet/pawls are loud....if that's your thing. I don't have a vast experience of wheels to use as a comparison, but as recommendations go, I'm really pleased and can not fault them and have no regrets. Supplied travel bag a lovely bonus, which makes the decal issue all the more dissapointing and the only reason for not giving the full 5 stars.
